12 June, 2020
First show for 2020 at Music At The Elbow is tonight. We feature "The Sound Hounds" from Bemidji, MN. Doyle Turner and John Henningsgaard, play a soulful mix of roots, folk, and Americana music. With influences from the Grateful Dead to Johnny Cash, from Sam Cook to Michael Kiwanuka, The Sound Hounds continue their search for sounds of satisfaction. Some of the lakeside set may have heard John perform at Turnerfest in 2018. The duo began making music that summer and have enjoyed the challenge of melding their individual styles into one. John adds harmony, percussion and harmonica to Doyle's uptempo repertoire, and Doyle returns the favor with tasteful phrasings on guitar and voice. You'll notice the fun. Doyle’s EP “Until the Good Comes Back Around” drops in early 2020. John released an LP, "Northern Address" in 2018. We start the evening with a meet and greet at 6:30 followed by a concert starting around 7. We then partake of snacks (if you want to bring something you may) and visiting which is followed by a "song pull"!! So if you are inclined, bring a song or story to share with the group. Concert is free but we suggest a $10.00 donation which will go directly to the performers! It is all held at 37021 County Highway 35 Waubun, MN 56589-9336. GPS is sometimes not the best so call and we can give directions. 480.248.5918 is my cell and cabin is 218.734.2215. A RSVP is great if you can, but not required!!
