Edward & Beverly
Track nine from . While hauling mail I wondered what it would be like to write a song & not worry about the rhyme or syllables. This is what came out of a mail box I opened in Oct. 2001.
Lyrics
Edward and Beverly, they lived in the woods;
By the river, under the city.
They lived all alone, bothered nobody,
But the neighbors all thought they were weird.
'Cause they smoked marijuana, and drank pep-to-bismol
And ate some black olives each day;
They liked what they ate & they liked how they lived,
But the neighbors all thought they were weird. E n B, they lived in the river, by the city under the woods.
Instead of a mowed lawn, they had shrubs and wildflowers
So the neighbors all thought they were weird.
Their last names weren't Jones's, N their yard was quite filled up with rusted out automobiles.
They had blue hair, n tattoos n they both pierced their bodies,
So the neighbors all thought they were weird. E n B they lived in the city, by the woods, under the river.
They believed in their spirit, but not in the church,
So the neighbors all thought they were weird.
They'd talk about Buddha n reincarnation, n the next breath they'd talk about Christ.
N how Jesus n Buddha would just accept each other.
So the neighbors all thought they were weird. But there is not one right way to live, no there is not one right way to live
I think we've forgotten a true law in life, there is not one right way to live. E n B they live within us, beside us n under us too. (tail)
